I found this reference in a book filled with old black and white photo's. I really liked the way the light showed on the little boy's face. I also liked the simplicity of the photo. I wasn't sure, however, if I could capture that light in a watercolor.
Boy Fishing 10x14 2009As it turned out, the boy was the easiest part. The background and the boat was harder. For one thing, the boat needed change to make for a better composition. I added another seat and a fishing bag.
